Cholla Cactus Garden Nature Trail
There
is a 16-point guide to this quarter-mile loop nature trail through a host of
teddy bear cholla. The top joints of this cholla are covered with silvery
spines which make them appear to shimmer in the sunlight. But, they are
not huggable--at the ends of the spines are some wicked barbs which will attach
themselves to clothing or skin if one gets close. Thus, the alternative
name of "jumping cholla."
