Golden Bee Mine
The Golden Bee Mine is at 2,900 feet,
670 feet above the trailhead. The trail starts out on an old mining road
which soon disappears as it crosses a wide wash. By heading for the
highest peak to the south, one eventually finds the road again which begins a
steep climb up the alluvial fan to the mine. It's about 2 miles up to the
mine from the trailhead.
This
mine dates from the 1930s and there are ruins in several places along the road.
At what appears to be the remains of a wooden house, we found a rusting baby
carriage frame. We stopped at the water tank, thinking we had found all
there was to find--but the mine ruins were further up the washed out trail.
