Trails and Treasures Home Page Road Trips Across America 2004 Searching for Fred Harvey Santa Fe Trail
Lakin, Kansas
This
restored ATSF depot is on the grounds of the Kearny County Historical Museum,
which unfortunately is not open on Saturday mornings.
Fred Harvey managed a lunch room at Lakin for a short period between 1879 and 1880. The building was torn down and moved to what is now Coolidge, Kansas in December 1880.
The Upper Crossing to the Cimarron Cut-off on the Santa Fe Trail is just east of Lakin.
