Lyons, Kansas
Lyons
is the Rice County Seat. The county historical society's museum, the
Coronado Quivira Museum, has displays on the Quivira Indians (including a
replica grass lodge), Coronado's journey to the area in 1541 (including a few
pieces of Spanish armor), the Santa Fe Trail, and pioneer life in the area.
In front of the courthouse are two geocaches--From the Past...Into the Future and that's just the way it is.

About 12 miles west of Lyons are Ralph's Ruts, named after the owner Ralph Hathaway. The Hathaway farm was the site of the Plum Buttes Massacre in September 1867.
