South and his wife, Tanya, built a house atop a very remote mountain in 1931 and
tried to emulate the lives of prehistoric Indians for about 15 years. The ruins
of their adobe cabin “Yaquitepec” are at the end of a steep, rocky 1-mile hike
up Ghost Mountain.
