Mid Hills to Hole-in-the-Wall
The Mid Hills to Hole-in-the-Wall Trail is generally done as an 8-mile point-to-point hike. The southern end of the trail can be accessed via Banshee Canyon by descending through a series of slots with ring assistance or more directly from near the southern terminus of Wild Horse Canyon Road. The northern end of the trail is at the windmill across from the entrance road to Mid Hills Campground.
On the southern end, we hiked as far as the first set of rings and decided this wasn’t for us. Instead, we drove around to Wild Horse Canyon Road and walked into Banshee Canyon to the boulder pile leading up to the lower set of rings and returned. On the northern end, we hiked the first 3/4-mile up to a view point.
