Saguaro National Park
The
saguaro cactus dominate the landscape to the east and west of Tucson, where the
Saguaro National Park (http://www.nps.gov/sagu)
preserves the natural habitat of these stately denizens of the Sonoran desert.
Located 30 miles apart, the two districts encompass over 91,000 acres. The west
district includes a portion of the Tucson Mountains; the east is in the
foothills of the Rincon Mountains where one can walk through a desert garden
and, perhaps, see a rattlesnake or two.
