Very Large Array (VLA)
The
VLA (Very Large Array) is a radio astronomy telescope which consists of 27
dish-shaped antennas arranged in a “Y” formation. Each dish is 82 feet in
diameter. The antennas are situated on railroad tracks which allows them to be
moved closer or farther apart. The VLA has been used to study quasars, black
holes, and other astronomical objects at the edge of the universe.
